In week one of the series Catchphrase, we talked about being saved and what it truly means to be rescued by Christ. Also, we learned how salvation is more than a just a moment, it’s a continuous process.

SCRIPTURE:

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed — not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence — continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Philippians 2:12-13 (NIV)

Catchphrase – Week 1

Think back to some of the major moments in your life. A milestone birthday, a big win for your team, the birth of a sibling, getting your first car. The feeling in that moment was pretty great, right? But soon the moment had passed and you found yourself wondering: what’s next?

Sometimes being a Christian can feel a little like this. We experience a major moment in our faith when we find our salvation in Christ, but then the moment passes and we’re not sure where to go from there.

Philippians 2:12-13 tells us, “…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Did you catch that? The Scripture is telling us that the process of knowing God is continual. It’s not just a one and done experience, but a constant relationship. So when that major moment passes, we can rest assured that God’s work is just beginning. Because knowing God is about more than just one moment in your life. It’s really about every moment in your life. Think today about how you can continue to invite God into your life as you move forward in relationship with Him.
