In Week Three of ME, we’re talking about how even when we’re dealing with rough things, scary things, or even heartbreak, God never leaves us!
SCRIPTURE:
“Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this. The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Lamentations 3:21-23 NLT
ME – Week 3
If you turn on the radio in your car or hit Shuffle Play on most Spotify channels, chances are that you’re going to hear a song about heartbreak. We’ve all been there—relationships fall apart, we lose our job, feel betrayed, or deal with infertility. We can even break our own hearts. We mess up, we get lazy, we fall short, or we miscalculate.
Maybe you’ve heard the old Christian poem, Footprints in the Sand. And maybe you think it’s cheesy or something weird your grandparents had framed on the wall of their bathroom, but the poem is not without merit.
In it, someone has a dream that they’re walking on the beach with God, watching scenes from their life. In each scene, they noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. But it appeared that during the times of greatest heartache, there was only one set. When the speaker asked God why, the response was that he was carried during those times.
In the book of Psalms, David says it this way: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed (Psalm 34:18 NLT).
God is never closer to you than in seasons of heartache and loss. You are not alone—and He will carry you through.
