In Week Two of ROAD TRIP, we spoke how the road with Jesus becomes clear by doing the next right thing.

SCRIPTURE:

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things.” – GALATIANS 5:22-23 NIV

Road Trip – Week 2

Have you ever heard someone say something like, “Well, I’m just not a patient person.” We tend to say things like this as excuses, don’t we? Sure, certain character traits might not feel natural to us. But as Jesus followers, we have access to be more than maybe we realize.

Check out what Paul said to the church in Galatia about the Holy Spirit’s ability to produce more in us than we can access on our own:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)

When you became a Christian, God placed seens in you for each of the above “fruits.” Because of the power of the Holy Spirit, you are a patient person. You are love. And joyful. And…you get the idea. So, if you have each of these things planted in you already, the question: What are you doing to grow?

This week, choose an action you can take toward pursuing growth in one of the following: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, or self-control. Action ideas might include writing an encouraging note a friend, asking someone for forgiveness, helping an elderly friend around their home, or giving up a favorite (non-healthy) food for a couple days. Ask God to help you follow through in this area.
