Wired – Week 3
Relationships are messy. Trying to repair a broken friendships, trying to connect with parents — it’s all messy. And sometimes, when it’s difficult to invest in relationships, we tend to back off. We tend to stop trying because it’s just too hard. But what if God has more for us than just being alone? Even though it can be easier to just stop trying and to accept a broken relationship, what if God actually wants us in community with others even when it’s messy?
Genesis 2:18a says, “It is not good for man to be alone.” And in the book of Matthew, Jesus tells His disciples, “‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” (Matthew 22:39 NIV).
God is telling us that we are meant to be in community with others. We are meant to love others as ourselves, and if we want to connect with God, we need to be in community with other people. If today you find yourself struggling to invest in relationships with those in community with you, will you choose today to keep trying? We were meant to be in community with others.
