The latest forecasts have Irma on a more direct path toward South Florida, putting us on a path to receive some strong effects of the storm. Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency on Monday for the state’s 67 counties. “Hurricane Irma is a major and life-threatening storm, and Florida must be prepared,” Governor Scott said in a statement.
As a reminder, we have decided to postpone the Biblical Entrepreneurship Course for another weekend. We understand that securing your family and property is the utmost priority and focus at this time. You will receive an email once a new date is selected. We will be joining you in prayer for our community and asking God for protection over everyone that we love.
As of today, we are planning to have services on Sunday. We do not, however, want to put our congregants in harm’s way. If State or local officials have issued warnings or curfews to stay off the roads, please listen to them and stay home. Keep your family safe. Pay attention to our Facebook page for updates on the status of Sunday services.
We pray with each other for a generosity of spirit as we learn more about Hurricane Irma and its potential effect on our region. Let us pray that God will calm the storms of our heart. May we remember to check on one another as the storms arrive – our co-workers, our neighbors, and our friends, our families – to assure each other of our care and concern for our safety and well-being.
Stay Safe!
