MONTHLY MEMORY VERSE

It’s another Sunday morning and you have to wake up early to go to church. You find yourself not being too excited for it because you know what to expect. A game, some worship and a message. The game starts and you don’t get picked, so you sit there and watch what could have been you having fun on the stage and winning a prize. Then worship starts and its none of the songs you like, you know one or two of them and kinda sing along here and there. Next the speaker comes up and delivers a message. The message isn’t too funny but they got your attention for a few minutes, but only a few minutes. You start thinking to yourself is this really what church is about? Am I doomed to the same thing every week? Are other churches like this? Lets take a look at the very first church and see what it was like.

Read: Acts 2:42-47

Whoa! This church sounds awesome! They did everything together, shared in meals, gave to the needy, and even worshipped together! They were a community who looked after one another and built one another up. Each one of them strengthened the other. So what if we were like that in our church? What if instead of being frustrated that we didn’t get picked for the game, we celebrated and cheered on our friends who did get picked? What if during worship we actually praised God no matter what the song instead of just singing along? What if during the message we didn’t judge how well we liked it, instead we took in the spiritual principles and applied them to our lives? I think that if we did these things, church could be more than just a building you come to every week, it could be a community.
